A charter week is a performance with no intermission. The preference sheet arrives days ahead, and from that single document the crew reverse-engineers an entire experience: provisioning, itinerary, cabin setup, music, lighting, and the small personal touches that make a stranger's boat feel like a private residence.
Day one is about calibration. The crew learns the guests' rhythm — who wakes early, who takes coffee on the sundeck, who would rather not be spoken to before ten. By day three the service should feel telepathic.
The galley carries an outsized share of the pressure. A chef who can pivot from a beach barbecue to a formal dinner within the same afternoon, in a remote anchorage, is worth every dollar of their salary.
